The Kindergarten Food Drive is going on NOW! Donations for the Troy Food Pantry can be made in the Kindergarten room until Friday, November 18th.

Thanksgiving Dinner will be served in the Morrison cafeteria on Friday, November 18th. Family members are welcome to join students for lunch. Adult lunch price is $3 and may be paid in the office. Lunch will be served starting at 11:15 for K-2 and 11:45 for 3-6.

The After School Program is collecting burned out light bulbs for a Christmas art project. Old bulbs can be donated at the office and exchanged for an energy efficient bulb donated by Northern Lights. Only two new bulbs per household, please.

BASEMENT SALE ~ Starts TOMORROW! October 28th and 29th; 3-7 pm on Friday and 9-12 on Saturday in the Elementary Basement.

Harvest Party ~ Monday, October 31st, 5-7 pm in the elementary gym. Everyone is welcome! Adult volunteers needed for Set up on Sunday @ 4 pm and Monday after 1 pm. Please contact Bobbie @ 283-1901.

Next Week is RED RIBBON WEEK! Each day will have a special theme to help celebrate Drug Free Living. There will be prizes each day for participation and prizes given on Friday for the best drawings and essays. We will have an Assembly on Friday, November 4th @ 1:15.

Each school year you must turn in a new form for Free/Reduced lunches. Starting yesterday, Monday, October 3rd, you will be charged full price for meals until your new form is turned in.

The Troy Senior Parents are selling Community Calendars. Order forms can be picked up in the office. Orders are due by Friday, September 30th.

Please remember to label your student’s belongings, i.e.; backpack, jacket, etc. Please check the Lost and Found. It is located next to the juice machine in the lobby.

Please send a note if your child will be doing something different after school than normal. If we do not have a note or call from you then your student will be sent home the “normal” way. If you need to call the school to let us know a change of plans, please do so by 2:30 pm. It gets very hectic in the office at the end of day and we want to do everything we can to ensure proper delivery of your student. Thank you for your help with this matter.

The New Horizons Learning Center’s summer program will begin June 6th and go through June 30th. The hours will be from 12.00- 3:00pm Monday through Thursday. There will be weekly field trips to water parks and Bull Lake, float trips, art classes, archery classes, lots of hiking, fishing, outdoor activities, craft making, climbing wall, computer labs, and Mr. Hawk will be organizing all sorts of physical sports activities. Families and students are invited to attend the New Horizons year end potluck barbeque on June 2nd in the Morrison playground, bring a side dish if you can and learn more info about this summer’s activities. Parents: You MUST send a note with your child if they will be leaving the program before it ends at 3 pm each day, this is MANDATORY!

EARLY OUT ~ Wednesday, May 18th

Jack Gladstone, Montana’s Blackfeet Troubadour will be here to perform an Assembly on Thursday, May 19th @ 1:00 pm in the gym. All are welcome to attend.

Yearbooks now available for pre-order for $5 each. They will be available for pick up by Friday, May 27th.

The Egg Drop will be this Friday, May 20th at 1:00 pm. 3rd-6th grade students will be making egg-traptions in their classrooms on Friday morning using only straws and tape. K-2 students will be allowed to make an egg-traption at home but they must abide by the following rules: the container can be no larger than 12x12, no liquids, no parachutes. Eggs will be provided on Friday morning in the classrooms.

Rainbow day~ we are asking each grade to wear a different color on Friday so that we can take a “rainbow” picture of the whole school from the roof during the egg drop.

Smokey the Bear will be visiting K-3rd grade classrooms on Tuesday, May 10th.

WINGS will be making their annual fundraising walk on Wednesday, May 11th. 100% of your donation goes to those who need it: People in cancer treatment. WINGS raised $73,530 last year and helped 62 Lincoln County Cancer Patients in 2010.

The Elementary Track Meet is scheduled for Thursday, May 12th starting at 12:00 noon. 4th-6th grade tracksters will eat lunch at 11:00 am and K-3 students will eat at 11:45 am.

The Baptist Church is hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Peter Herrera on Saturday, May 14th 5-7 pm at the Baptist Church. The cost is $5 per plate.

Quilt Raffle tickets on sale in the office for Peter. Tickets are $1 per ticket or $5 for 6. The quilt was lovingly made by Kris Newton and is on display in the elementary foyer. Drawing on June 1st, need not be present to win.

The Egg Drop has been rescheduled for Friday, May 20th! 3rd- 6th grade students will be making egg-traptions in their classrooms out of straws and masking tape. K-2 students will be allowed to make them at home. Eggs will be provided and rules will be sent home.

The CARD (Center for Asbestos Related Disease) Foundation is sponsoring a concert fundraiser to purchase medical equipment. Concert tickets for The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and the Copper Mountain Band are available in the elementary office. The concert will be held on July 9th in Libby at J. Neils Park, starting at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the gate. Rain or Shine, no refunds.

We are asking for donations of non gender (arm & hammer, etc.) deodorant. Donations can be left at the office.

There have been many questions about the absence of Mr. Pearson from our school. We would like everyone to know that Mr. Pearson has taken a job as Superintendent in Victor, MT. The former Superintendent in Victor is very ill and Mr. Pearson is going there to help them for the rest of this year. Mr. Dave Stephenson will be our interim principal for the remainder of the year. Quilt Raffle Tickets on Sale NOW!
We are selling raffle tickets for Peter Herrera. Peter is a kindergarten student at Morrison Elementary who has been recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. PENNIES FOR PETER
Peter Herrera is a bright, sweet Kindergarten student in Ms. Goodwin’s class @ Morrison Elementary. Peter has been recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He is currently being treated at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Spokane, WA. Morrison Elementary is raising money to help Peter’s family with expenses: commuting, lodging, and medical.
Donations can be made at the elementary office or the high school office.

The 6th grade class is having a bake sale on Thursday, April 21st during afternoon recess. They are raising money for the annual 6th grade trip to Silverwood. 10% of the proceeds will be donated to the Pennies for Peter fund.

The 5th Annual Morrison School Talent Show Family Night will be this Thursday in the gym. The New Horizons students will be serving free homemade tacos, enchiladas, cake and juice starting at 5:30. The talent show will begin around 6:30 and last about 90 minutes. All students/families are invited to come and cheer for your classmates. The final list of who will be in the talent show will be posted on the wall outside Ms Higgins’ office on Wednesday. All students in the show should be there by 6:00 pm to check in.

Bryan Bowers Singer/Songwriter & Master Auto harpist Extraordinaire will perform in an Assembly for the Morrison Student Body on Friday, April 22nd @ 1:15 pm in the gym.
The annual Egg Drop contest is scheduled for Friday, April 29th. Details, details, details will be sent home next week! 
The Elementary Track Meet is scheduled for Thursday, May 12th.
A Children of Divorce support group is being formed at W.F. Morrison Elementary for students in grades 2-4. The group is open to children who have recently experienced parental separation or to those who still struggle with internal conflict about the changes separation has brought. A permission slip that further explains the group is being sent home with your student. If you do not receive one, please contact Mr. Lieser either by phone

EARLY OUT ~ Tomorrow, April 13th. Walkers will be released at 2:15 pm.

The 6th grade class is having a bake sale on Thursday, April 14th during afternoon recess. They are raising money for the annual 6th grade trip to Silverwood. 10% of the proceeds will be donated to the Pennies for Peter fund.

Peter Herrera is a bright, sweet Kindergarten student in Ms. Goodwin’s class @ Morrison Elementary. Peter has been recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He is currently being treated at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Spokane, WA. Morrison Elementary is raising money to help Peter’s family with expenses: commuting, lodging, and medical.
Donations can be made at the elementary office or the high school office.

A Children of Divorce support group is being formed at W.F. Morrison Elementary for students in grades 2-4. The group is open to children who have recently experienced parental separation or to those who still struggle with internal conflict about the changes separation has brought. A permission slip that further explains the group is being sent home with your student. If you do not receive one, please contact Mr. Lieser either by phone

Silverwood “Reading is the Ticket” forms due TOMORROW, March 23rd.

Parents and families of in the New Horizons after-school program are invited to a family Thai food dinner in the Morrison gym at 5:30 this Thursday March 24. There will be soup, spring rolls, noodles and cake prepared by students and staff. Please come join the fun and learn more about our healthy snack program.

The senior class is having an ice cream sundae sale on Friday after lunch in the gym. $1 per scoop. Funds raised will be donated to WINGS.

Troy School Board Selects Finalists for Superintendent Position
The Troy School Board selected five finalists for the position of Superintendent of Schools in Troy during a screening session on the evening of Monday, February 7th. The finalists will be in Troy on Tuesday, February 22nd and Wednesday February 23rd for the interview process. Time will be provided for the community to meet with the candidates at the Troy Activity Center on February 22nd from 6-8 pm. A schedule for the interviews will be available on the school district’s web page.

"The board spent a lot of time reviewing the applications and deliberating on which ones are the best fit for our school and the educational well being of our students. These candidates 'rose to the top' from the pool that we had to choose from.” We all are looking forward to getting to know these five candidates better.”

The five finalists chosen by the Board are:

Arlene Bigby – Arlene holds a doctorate in educational leadership (EdD) from the University of Southern Mississippi as well as a Masters degree in Elementary Education from Montana State University-Northern. Arlene has worked as at Teacher, Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, Principal, Intervention specialist and a Superintendent in several Montana schools. Currently Arlene is employed as an Intervention Specialist and Assistant Principal for the Wolf Point school district.
Larry Markuson – Larry holds a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Montana State University. In addition, Larry received his Bachelors degree in Mathematics from Montana State University. Larry has worked as a Teacher, Coach, Principal and Superintendent in several Montana schools. Currently Larry is employed as the Superintendent/High School Principal for the Hot Springs School System. In addition, Larry was a licensed general contractor for several years.
Mike Yovetich– Mike holds a Masters degree in Secondary School Administration from the University of Montana. Mike received his Bachelors degree in History from the University of Montana. Mike has worked as a Teacher, Athletic Director, Assistant Principal, and Principal at schools in Montana and Idaho. Currently Mike is employed as a Principal for the Post Falls School District in Post Falls Idaho. In addition, Mike operated a small business for several years.
Marilyn Flammang- Marilyn holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in Education Administration from Wayne State College. Marilyn has worked as a Teacher, Coach, Principal and Superintendent at schools in Iowa, Wyoming and Montana. Currently Marilyn is employed as the Superintendent/Principal for the Hays-Lodge Pole school district in Hays Montana. In addition Marilyn operated a small business in Iowa.
Dan Wendt- Dan holds a Masters degree in Education from Montana State University. Dan received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a Minor in Computer Science from Montana Tech in Butte. Dan has worked as a Teacher, Coach, Technology Coordinator and Principal at schools in Idaho and Montana. Currently Dan is employed as the Principal for the Cut Bank School District in Cut Bank Montana.
Interviews are open to the public and will start at 1:00 pm at the Troy Administration Board room on February 22nd. Two interviews will be conducted on the 22nd with the other 3 interviews starting at 9:30 am on February 23rd. We hope to see all of you there.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre will be presenting King Arthur’s Quest on Saturday, February 12th at 3 and 6 pm in the High School Auditorium. Admission: $3 Adults and $1 Students/Children.

Ms. Meyer’s 3rd & 4th grade won an ice cream sundae party for collecting the most money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through our Pennies for Patients Drive. So far Morrison Elementary has raised $1140.59 for the cause. There are still Beanie Babies available for sale and all proceeds will be added to the total.
